History
Baseball returned to Louisville in 1968, as Walter. J Dilbeck purchased the Toronto Maple Leafs and moved them to Louisville. Louisville had lost baseball after the 1962 season, as the American Association contracted. It was the second time Boston had been affiliated with Louisville, as they had been affiliated with the team from 1939-1955.
The team went to the playoffs in 1969 and won the Pennant in 1972, but lost in the playoffs to Tidewater. However, that would be the last season for the Colonels, as Fairgrounds stadium was reconfigured for Football (only to be reconfigured again in 1981 when baseball returned)... and the affiliate move to Pawtucket
