Overall Career
Louis Criger was born on February 3, 1872, in Elkhart, IN. Criger was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 21, 1896, with the Cleveland Spiders.
Lou Criger enjoyed a 16-year major league career as a light hitting, but talented catcher. Beginning in 1896, he was the batterymate of Cy Young in Cleveland, St. Louis Boston. Criger caught the majority of Young's 511 victories and they were teammates until Criger was traded to the Browns in December, 1908.
Career totals in 1012 games was a .221 average, 11 HRs and 342 RBI.
