Lawrence Hyer Boerner was born on January 21, 1905, in Staunton, VA. Boerner was 27 years old when he broke into the big leagues on June 30, 1932, with the Boston Red Sox. Boerner had a 1-year career as a a right handed pitcher with the 1932 Red Sox. He finished with a 0-4 record, 19 Ks and a 5.02 ERA in 61 innings. After his playing days, he worked as a Mortgage Loan Broker.
