Scouting Report

  • Grimm has jumped on the map by maintaining a low-90s fastball for much of his senior season, particularly surprising after he missed his junior year with a broken arm. His other pitches are behind the heater, but have a chance to be Major League average. With his size, frame and fastball, he fits the mold of an interesting projectable high school right-hander with the potential to be a No. 4 starter in the future. ~ MiLB.com

Amateur Career

  • Grimm went 9-1, with a 1.48 ERA, 93 strikeouts and 18 walks in 54.2 IP as a senior at Virginia High School. That season he helped the Bearcats to a 20-6 record and advanced to the state quarterfinals. His top performance of the year happened when he recorded 16 strikeouts in firing a one-hitter in a 3-0 win over rival Abingdon. Grimm missed his entire junior season due to an arm injury. He tossed a no-hitter with 11 K against Carroll County in a Region IV playoff game as a sophomore, and went 5-1 overall.
