Overall Career
Bennett was drafted by the Red Sox on June 3, 1991 and signed two days later. In 1994 with New Britain he went 4-9 with a 6.03 ERA. In 1995 and 1996 with Pawtucket he went 1-1 and 6-7, respectively, with ERAs in the 6's and 7's. The Sox released him in 1996 and he signed with the Baltimore Orioles. His talent as a pitcher was less than impressive, boasting a fastball that topped out in the mid 80's and curve in the low-to-mid 60's. He made his major league debut on July 15, 1998 vs. TEX, pitching one inning and walking three batters.
On July 27, 1998 he was released by the Baltimore Orioles, and signed with the Philadelphia Phillies on July 30, 1998. He was released one other time by the Phillies but resigned. He would appear in five games in 1999, but gave up 17 earned runs in 17 innings despite going 2-1. Finally in October 1999, he was granted free agency by the Phillies and hasn't appeared in any MLB transactions since.
He has found moderate success in the Can-Am League, going 43-13 in over 70 outings through July 2005.
