Jeff Taglienti

Jeff Taglienti (born November 13, 1975 in Walpole, MA ) was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 7th round of 1997 and was the first pitcher selected out of New England. He holds Tufts Baseball records in strikeouts single season (86) and career (258), career inning pitched (274) and tied for 2nd in career shutouts (3) At Tufts he was a two year baseball captain, two time
All-New England, and two time All-American. He was named the 1998 Michigan Battle Cats
(Single A, Red Sox) Pitcher of the Year. In 1999, Taglienti was assigned to Class AA Trenton
Thunder and in 2000 he was traded to the Colorado Rockies organization and assigned to the Class
AA affiliate Carolina Mudcats. In the fall of 2000 he was assigned to the elite Arizona
Fall League for the second straight year. He was traded again in 2000 to the Cincinnati Reds organization, playing with the Double A Chattanooga Lookouts. He voluntarily retired in March 2003.
