Overall Career
An eighth round pick in the 1982 amateur draft, Sellers put together a breakout season with the New Britain Red Sox in 1985, leading the Eastern League with 15 complete games, 5 shutouts, and tied for the lead in wins with 14. He was rewarded with a late-season call-up to Boston at the tender age of 21.
An erratic power pitcher, Sellers showed flashes of promise in his four seasons with Boston, but the combination of a disappointing season in 1988, in which he posted a 1-7 record, and a shoulder injury, led to an off-season trade to the Cincinnati Reds.
