Scouting Report
- Versatile outfielder plays both LF and CF, reliable in the field with a good arm. Durable and consistent. Makes decent contact, average plate discipline. Power has tapered off against advanced pitching. Hits lefties and righties equally well. ~ SoxProspects.com

Minor League Career
After a mediocre start to his pro career in Lowell, Johnson came back with a strong 2006 campaign bouncing between three levels. His skills at the plate advanced very nicely, and seemed to be relatively unaffected by the league changes. He showed surprising power, leading all Red Sox minor leaguers in total bases (230 in 482 ABs) and finishing second to David Murphy in XBH (52). He also hit 18 HRs, which was more than he hit in his entire college career.
Johnson started 2007 at High-A Lancaster, hitting .282/.360/.373 with 1 home run, 17 RBI, 13 walks and 20 strikeouts through the first 25 games. He was promoted to Portland on May 4.
