Overall Career

Kershner made his major league debut in 2002 with the San Diego Padres, seven-years after being drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 12th round of the 1995 amateur draft.

After spending parts of three seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, Kershner signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox on December 22, 2004. Despite pitching six scoreless innings in relief, Kershner failed to make the team out of spring training and was assigned to Pawtucket. Following 15 appearances with Pawtucket, in which he posted an 0-2 record with two saves and a 5.68 ERA in 19 innings pitched, Kershner's contract was purchased by the San Diego Padres.

Kershner spent 2006 with Milwaukee's Triple-A affiliate in Nashville. He signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds on January 8, 2007.
