Jarrett Clark Gardner was drafted by the Sox in 2003, he showed promise in his first couple years but was released by Boston in 2006.

Overall Career
In 2003, Gardner was drafted by Boston in the 19th round (564 overall) on June 3 and signed with Boston on June 13. He had his streak of not allowing a walk to start the season come to an end at 52 1/3 innings on August 26.
In 2004, he was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for May 7-13 after going 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA in two starts. He was named the 'Topps' South Atlantic League Player of the Month for May after going 4-0 in six games (four starts. He was selected as a replacement to the Southern Division team of the SAL All-Star Team on June 18. The Red Sox named Jarrett the Pitcher of the Year for Augusta on September 14 and he was also named the 2004 HogNation Minor League Player of the Year.
In 2005, Gardner transferred from Wilmington to Lowell to clear a roster spot on April 8 but transferred back to Wilmington on April 11. He was transferred to the Greenville Bombers and threw his 300th career inning and got his 200th career strikeout on July 30. He finished with a 1.01 ground out to fly out ratio (1.09 at Greenville, 0.82 at Wilmington).
In 2006, he was released by the Boston Red Sox on April 3 and signed with the independent Lincoln Saltdogs (American Association) on April 12. He had his contract sold to the San Diego Padres on June 29 and was assigned to the Fort Wayne Wizards. He went 5-4 with a 4.50 ERA.
