Overall Career
Howard Samuel Shanks was born on July 21, 1890, in Chicago, Illinois. Shanks was 21 years old when he broke into the big leagues on May 9, 1912, with the Washington Senators.
Shanks had a 14-year career, primarily with the Senators. In 1,665 games he batted .253 with 1,440 hits, 25 HRs and 620 RBI. With little power, his defensive versatility kept him in the ML.
