Overall Career
Herbert Ehler "Lefty" Thormahlen was born on July 5, 1896, in Jersey City, NJ. Thormahlen was 21 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 29, 1917, with the New York Yankees.
Thormahlen had a 6-year career as a left handed pitcher. He finished with a 29-30 record, 148 Ks, and a 3.33 ERA in 565 innings.

Thormahlen's Moments in the Sun
One day in 1918 he took a no-hitter into the ninth inning of a scoreless game. He got two outs, then gave up two singles and a walk. When the next batter's easy fly was dropped by Ping Bodie, Thormahlen lost 1-0.
