Overall Career
Henry Ward Johnson (May 21, 1906 - August 20, 1982) was 18 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 17, 1925 with the New York Yankees. Johnson had a 12-year career as a right handed pitcher. He worked both as a starter and reliever and finished with a 63-56 record, 568 Ks and a 4.75 ERA in 1066.1 innings.
Johnson, sometimes wild, led the AL in walks in 1928 with 104 free passes and hit batsmen with 12. Converted to a reliever in 1930, he led the American League in wild pitches (11) and relief wins (9).
