Overall Career
Hack Miller came to Boston in August 1918 from Oakland in the Pacific Coast League. He batted .276 (8-for-29, with two doubles).
After 1918, Miller returned to Oakland where in 1919-21, he batted .346, .347 and .347. In 1920, he collected 280 hits in 199 games.
Miller joined the Chicago Cubs and hit .352 in 1922 (3rd best in the NL), and hit 20 home runs the following year.

Trivia
Miller's father was known as "Sebastian the Strong Man" and his son was seldom modest about his own strength. He got his nickname Hack because of his resemblance to Russian wrestler Hackenschmidt.
Miller smashed large stones and hammered nails through 2-inch thick boards with his fist.
