Gyroball

The mythical pitch that Daisuke Matsuzaka is allegedly bringing with him from Japan, which may or may not have the velocity of a fastball (plus "explosiveness") and the break of a screwball that turns into a slider. The pitch is said to be taught almost exclusively by Kazushi Tezuka, who co-wrote the 2001 book "Makyu no Shotai" ("The Truth About the Supernatural Pitch") with Dr. Ryutaro Himeno of the Advanced Center for Computing and Communication at the physics and chemistry research institute Riken in Saitama, Japan. This pitch is not to be confused with the "shutto," which is a more common out-pitch in Japan. The following link purports to show Dice-K throwing the gyroball for the Seibu Lions. [[1]]
