Red Sox and Greensboro
The Red Sox made Greensboro a minor league home for the first time in 1941, moving from Rocky Mount, NC. The Red Sox would revisit Greensboro twice more, with the Greensboro Patriots in the 1950s and the Greensboro Hornets of the 1980s. The Red Sox would win the Piedmont League pennant in 1942. With WWII raging, Greensboro would disband after the 1942 season, with the Red Sox moving to Roanoke, Virginia for the 1943 season.
