Frederick Nicholas Coumbe was born on December 13, 1889, in Antrim, PA. Coumbe was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues on April 22, 1914, with the Boston Red Sox.
Coumbe had an 8-year career as a left handed pitcher. He finished with a record of 38-38 with 212 Ks, and a 2.80 ERA. The slender junkballer won a career-high 13 with Cleveland in 1918.
