Overall Career
Frederick Amos "Lefty" Heimach was born on January 27, 1901, in Camden, NJ. Heimach was 19 years old when he broke into the big leagues on October 1, 1920, with the Philadelphia Athletics.
Heimach had a 13-year career as a left handed pitcher. He finished with a record of 62-69, 334 Ks and a 4.46 ERA in 1,288.2 innings. Heimach helped himself with his fielding skill as a pitcher. HE had a .236 lifetime average including 52 pinch-hit appearances in which he hit .385. When a broken ankle finished him in 1933, he had run up a string of errorless games that went back to 1926, covering 171 chances
