Frank Brooks

Frank Brooks (born September 6, 1978 in Brooklyn, New York) is a lanky left handed reliever currently pitching for Class AA Eastern League Portland Sea Dogs. Brooks was signed to a Minor League contract on June 17, 2006. This marks the 2nd time Frank Brooks has been in the Sox system, the first time he was in the system was 2004 when he was claimed off waivers from Oakland on March 18th, then returned to Pittsburgh on March 31st (Brooks was a Rule 5 pick by the New York Mets in 2003, later traded to the Athletics). Other big league systems he has been in include Philadelphia, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Kansas City and New York Yankees.

Career Overview

Frank Brooks attended Florida State University and was drafted by Philadelphia in the 13th round of the June, 1999 draft. Brooks since then has been for the most part a career minor leaguer, spending parts of 4 seasons on the A level, parts of 4 seasons in AA, and parts of 5 seasons in AAA.

Brooks has 12 games of Major League experience in between his 302 (and climbing) Minor League appearances. In his 12 games (11 with Pittsburgh in 2004, and 1 with Atlanta in 2005) Brooks has compiled an 0-1 record with a 4.58 ERA striking out 18 in 17.2 IP
