Minor League Career
Eric Paul Hetzel (born on Wednesday, September 25, 1963, in Crowley, Louisiana) was selected by the Boston Red Sox in 1st Round (1st overall) of 1985 amateur entry draft. Hetzel spent five years in the Red Sox organization. In 1985 in fifteen games he posted a 7-5 record with a 5.57 era for Greensboro. Playing for Winter Haven in 1987 he posted a 10-12 record with a 3.55 era in 26 games. The following year while with Pawtucket Eric pitched in 22 games with a record of 6-10.

Pro Career
Eric had his professional career debut on July 1, 1989 with The Boston Red Sox. His career in the majors lasted only 2 seasons both with Boston. His major league record was 3-7 in 85.1 innings with a 6.12 era over 21 games. His final game was September 13, 1990.
