ERA is a stat used to evaluate pitchers and how many runs they give up a game per nine innings. If a pitcher goes nine innings and gives up three runs his ERA is 3.00. If a pitcher goes 6 innings and gives up 2 runs his ERA is still 3.00. (ER/IP x 9)
