Dr. Thomas Gill

Dr. Thomas Gill is the Medical Director of the Boston Red Sox (aka the team physician) and was named to that position on February 25, 2005, following the surprising dismissal of former team physician Bill Morgan. He is also the team physician for the New England Patriots and has been associated with the Boston Bruins.
Dr. Gill is an orthopaedic surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital, and also an associate professor at Harvard University, where he graduated from medical school in 1990. As such, he performs many surgeries on athletes, such as Jason Varitek's knee repair in August 2006.
One of Dr. Gill's special study interests is the knee joint, specifically cartilage repair. He also heads the Sports Medicine Fellowship program at MGH.
