Overall Career
Signed as an undrafted free agent in 1990 by the Los Angeles Dodgers, Veras made his major league debut for the San Diego Padres in 1996, posting a 3-1 record with an impressive 2.79 ERA in 29 innings. Following a disappointing season in 1997, Veras was traded to the Red Sox on June 20, 1998 with Carlos Reyes and Mandy Romero for Jim Leyritz and minor leaguer Ethan Faggett. In 7 games with Boston, Veras was thoroughly underwhelming, allowing 9 earned runs on 12 hits, 7 walks, 1 hit by pitch and 2 wild pitches over 8 innings for a 10.12 ERA.
From 1999 to 2001, Veras spent time in the Royals and Indians organizations. He was last seen pitching in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) with the Chinatrust Whales in 2006.
On January 27, 2007, the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Veras to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
