Red Sox Fan

In Game 3 of the 2007 ALDS versus the Angels, fan Danny Vinik played a key role in a Red Sox Rally.

It was the bottom of the fifth inning with the Red Sox trailing by one at home. Pedroia was at third, and they had just walked Papi to put the runners on the corner. Manny Ramirez was behind 0-2 when he hit a catchable ball back towards the Red Sox on-deck circle. As Angels catcher Jeff Mathis reached over Box 37 to catch the ball, Danny Vinik prepared to do the same. On this day, Danny Vinik got the spoils and robbed Mathis of the second out to retire Ramirez.

Manny later walked to bring Mike Lowell to the plate. Mike hit a long fly ball to center that scored Pedroia on a Sac-Fly. The Sac scored Pedroia, and the Sox would later go on to win it in the bottom of the ninth on a Manny Ramirez walk-off home run. Vinik will be remembered by some as the anti-Bartman.
