Overall Career

Damian Jacques Jackson (born August 16, 1973 in Los Angeles, California) bats and throws right-handed. Jackson was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in first round of the 1991 draft. He did not play a full season until he joined the San Diego Padres in 1999 when he led all rookies in stolen bases. He sustained an injury in 2001, when he was hit by A.J. Burnett during Burnett's no-hit game.

Jackson is best known by Red Sox Nation for colliding with then-teammate and Red Sox center fielder Johnny Damon during the 2003 American League Division Series, knocking Damon unconscious. Damon would leave on a stretcher, while Jackson would stay in the game.

After leaving Boston, Jackson spent time with the Chicago Cubs (2004), Kansas City Royals (2004), San Diego Padres (2005) and Washington Nationals (2006). He signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on January 11, 2007, and released on March 12, 2007. "I no longer have anything to do with baseball,” an angry Jackson said upon learning of his release.

  • Seemed to inexplicably platoon with Todd Walker, the hottest hitter in the playoffs, during the ALCS...but then again this was just another manager's decision from Grady Little
  • In 1998, while playing for the Cincinnati Reds, Jackson fractures Sean Casey's eye orbit when he hits the newly acquired first baseman in the eye with a ball while practicing double plays.
