Red Sox and Columbia/Asheville
The Red Sox moved back to having multiple minor league affiliates in 1934, rejoining the Piedmont League and the Columbia Sandlappers. Unfortunately, the Great Depression had teams having struggles, and the Columbia team moved to Asheville on June 7th... returning to the Asheville Tourists name that was last used 2 years earlier (when the original Asheville Tourists disbanded).
The team finished last in the Piedmont League, and the Red Sox would move to Charlotte for the 1935 season.
