Overall Career
A solid third base prospect for the Red Sox in the mid-late 90's. Cole was viewed as somewhat superfluous with Wilton Veras also showing promise, so he was sent to the Cubs in '99 along with Mark Guthrie for Rod Beck. Beck pitched well down the stretch, and had some solid years for Boston, Bernie Williams notwithstanding, so Cole served a purpose. Liniak had a few cups of coffee with Chicago in '99 and '00, but never amounted to much.
