Hiram Cleo Carlyle was born on September 7, 1902, in Fairburn, Georgia. Carlyle was 24 years old when he broke into the big leagues on May 16, 1927, with the Boston Red Sox.
Carlyle's only year in the majors was in 1927 with the Red Sox as an outfielder. In 95 games he batted .234 with 1 HR and 28 RBI.
