Profile

The Clark Griffith League (CGL) is an amateur summer baseball league, with 5 teams located in the Washington DC Metro area. It is one of the many summer Collegiate Baseball Leagues. CGL has been in existence for over 60 years; it is one of the oldest and most established amateur summer baseball leagues in the nation.

The Clark C. Griffith Collegiate Baseball League consists of recruited players who have remaining college eligibility. Prior to the 2005 season, the CGCBL had maintained a 20-and-under age standard, keeping it within the guidelines of the All American Amateur Baseball Association (AAABA). The CGCBL is a charter member of the AAABA and has won 10 national championships, including five of the last nine. Entering the 2007 season, more than 50 league alumni have reached the major leagues, while more than 250 other players have gone on to play in the minor leagues.

The Clark Griffith League has forged a partnership with the Maryland Collegiate Baseball League (MCBL, formally the Eddie Brooks League) for the 2007 summer season. Current plans include inter-league play primarily on weekends throughout the season, and a mid-summer All-Star Game between the two Leagues.
