Pro Career
Chris Turner was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 15th round of the 2003 Amateur Draft. He was signed for $140,000. Turner made his pro debut that same year in the Gulf Coast League. There, he would post a .254/.338/.405 line with an alarming 36 strikeouts in only 126 at-bats. The next year, Turner would again be in the GCL. He would only have 68 at-bats before he was promoted to Lowell. For the Spinners, Turner wouldn't play that well, as he only had a .241/.265/.395 line. But the Sox continued to be agressive with him, as they promoted him to Sarasota. In Sarasota, he would go 3/11 with a double. In 2005, Turner flashed his potential while playing for the Greenville Drive, hitting .289/.361/.515 with 11 HR, 66 RBI's and 9 SB.
2006 was a big disappointment for Chris. Despite setting career-highs in home runs (18) and hits (98), Turner's strikeout numbers rose to an unacceptable amount, as he struck out 149 times in 403 at-bats.
In 22 games with the Single-A Lancaster JetHawks in 2007, Turner hit .160/.242/.358 and struck out a whopping 40 times in just 81 at-bats. He was released by the Red Sox on May 21, 2007.
