Overview
The China Baseball League (CBL) was founded in 2002 by Red Sox fan and former basketball promoter Tom McCarthy. It consists of six teams who play 29 to 30 games from April through July, followed by a best-of-five series between the top two teams. In the first four years of the league, the Beijing Tigers have won the championship three times.
Only one player in MLB history was born in China, Harry Kingman, who played only briefly for the Yankees in 1914.
