Overall Career

Charles Gardner "Old Hoss" Radbourn (December 11, 1854 - February 5, 1897) is considered by many hisorians to be the best 19th century pitcher in baseball history. Old Hoss pitched underhand and threw a "raise curve" which helped him earn 411 strikeouts in 1884. Radbourn is credited with a record 60 wins in 1884. Radbourn collected 309 wins despite playing only 11 seasons and won 20 or more games 9 seasons.
