Cesar Saba was signed in 1998 out of the Dominican Republic and became known as a promising young shortstop in Lowell after the 1999 season, when he was ranked as Boston's #8 prospect. He was sent to San Diego with Dennis Tankersley for Ed Sprague in 2000. The trade looked disastrous when Tankersley's star rose in High Class A and AA, but it became irrelevant when he stalled out in AAA. Saba's prospect status dimmed when it turned out his was born in 1978, not 1981[1].

He spent the 2001 season at San Diego's Fort Wayne affiliate, repeating Low Class A, but failed to make progress. Released, Saba re-emerged in the Canadian League in 2003, the league's one year of existence. While he had a decent season, he hasn't been sighted since and is probably out of baseball.
