Red Sox and Canton
The Red Sox expanded their minor league base from 4 to 8 in 1936, adding a team in Canton, Ohio. The team would win the Pennant and the Playoffs in 1937... and lost out on the pennant in 1938 by 1/2 a game. They would lose in the first round of the playoffs in that season.
The Middle Atlantic League shut down due to WWII in 1943, and the Red Sox would not return.
