League History
The Cal League was founded in 1941 with eight teams located throughout California. In 1943 the league was forced to cease play because of World War II, but returned in 1946. Throughout its history, several California cities have had teams in the Cal League including Anaheim, Fresno, Merced, Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Barbara and Ventura. Reno, Nevada had a team in the league from 1955 to 1992 and was the only league member ever to reside outside of California.
