Overall Career

Charles Solomon "Buddy" Myer was born on March 16, 1904, in Ellisville, MS. Myer was 21 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 26, 1925, with the Washington Senators.

Myer had a 17-year career as a second baseman. In 1,923 games he batted .303 with 38 HR and 850 RBI. Myer became Washington's solid second baseman for a decade, leading the league in fielding in 1931 and 1938. In 1928 he led the league in stolen bases with 30 and won the batting title in 1935 with a .349 average. Myer was a lefthanded batter so talented at dragging the ball that he beat out 60 bunts in one season. He batted over .300 nine times, and retired at the start of WWII.
