Overall Career

Hall of Famer Stanley Raymond Harris (November 8, 1896 - November 8, 1977), made a one-season "pit stop" in Boston in 1934, to manage the Red Sox. His teams won the 1924 Washington Senators and 1947 New York Yankees World Series crown. After Bucky Harris' 12-year playing career ended in 1931 (8 of which he was both a player and the manager) he shifted perfectly into the manager-only role, later being inducted into the HoF in 1975. Shortly after he passed away in Bethesda, MD on November 8, 1977. As the Red Sox manager, Bucky led Boston to a .500 record of 76-76.

Playing Career

  • Played 12 season, while managing for 8 of them. .274 lifetime average, with 1297 hits and 167 stolen bases.
  • led the AL in HBP for 3-straight seasons (1920-22) and led AL in Sac. hits 3 time (1924, 1925, 1927)
