Overall Career

Bronson Arroyo was drafted out of Hernando High School, in Brooksville, FL, in the third round (69th overall) by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1995 MLB Amateur Entry Draft. In February of 03, Arroyo bounced around from the Pirates to the minors for parts of the 2000-2003 seasons. The Red Sox claimed Arroyo off waivers from the Pirates. The right-handed pitcher spent the 2003 season bouncing from Pawtucket to Boston, but proved his worth enough for a spot in the starting rotation in 2004. In his first full season, Saturn Balls finished 10-9 with a 4.03 ERA in 32 games (29 starts) for Boston. In 2005, Arroyo pitched himself to a 14-10 record. Arroyo took a hometown discount to sign with Boston for three years, but near the end of spring traing was traded to Cincinnati for Wily Mo Pena. The first year after the trade Arroyo was one of the National Leagues top pitchers, posting an ERA+ of 146 and earning himself his first All Star selection. Since then he has come back down to earth with a sub-.500 record and has put up barely average numbers.
