Amateur Career
Drafted by the Sox in the 1994 Amateur draft out of Dartmouth, Mass. Had a 7-0 record and a 1.08 ERA in his senior year. Rated by Baseball America as the 59th best prospect. Received a $365,000 bonus to pass on his scholarship to the University of Michigan.
Pro Career
Moved quickly through the Sox system, going to AA Trenton in 1996, with a 12-7 record and a 4.01 ERA. Struck out 115 in 164 innings. That season placed him at #4 on BA's listing of the Sox top prospects. The following year he moved to AAA, where he improved his game, and was considered a top prospect with Carl Pavano. Ultimately, Montreal chose Pavano over Rose in the Pedro Martinez trade. Rose made his debut in 1997, but an arm injury in 2000 impacted his career, and he never was able to accomplish much in his MLB career.
