Brian Daubach (born February 11, 1972), was a left-handed first baseman / outfielder with above-average power. Daubach served as a replacement player during the 1994 strike and was shunned as a "scab" when he joined the Boston Red Sox in 1999. Due to his hard nosed style of play and penchant for clutch hitting this resentment didn't last long, and he quickly became both a player and fan favorite.

Overall Career
Brian Daubach was drafted in 1990 by the New York Mets in the 17th Round, and got a reputation as a player that always was the sort of guy who you had an idea could contribute but not start everyday. Daubach played with the Florida Marlins in 1998, getting 15 ABs. In 1999 he was picked up by the Red Sox and from that year to 2002 he averaged 432 ABs while earning a spot as one of the most beloved players on the Sox. His best year with the Sox was his first, 1999, when he batted .294 with 21 HR and 73 RBI. His power numbers stayed somewhat consistant throughout his time with the Sox, though his average took a bit of a hit as the years went on.
Sadly, he had no place on the team at the beginning of the new era in 2003. He signed with the Chicago White Sox in 2003, but saw limited action and underperformed to a great extent. He made his triumphant return to Fenway in 2004,but did not play well after coming back and was gone again after the end of the season. From there he joined the Mets in 2005 but was on the shuttle between the majors and minors a good amount of the time. In 2006 he tried to catch on with the St. Louis Cardinals, but spent the season with their Triple-A affiliate in Memphis.
Despite the dropoff in his production in recent years, Daubach's time with the Sox from 1999-02 and 2004 was a memorable time for those of us who saw it and he will always be revered by many in Red Sox Nation.
