Scouting Report
- Athletic outfielder with a very strong arm. Excellent approach at the plate - good swing with a refined power and on base ability. Hits to all fields. Slightly above average speed for a right fielder. Solid in the field. Tough competitor. Fantastic teammate and individual who takes joy in playing the game. Moss possesses a good mental approach to the game, able to evaluate his mistakes while still not harping on them. Moss began a transition to becoming a part-time 1B in late 2007, and he's handled it rather smoothly. ~ SoxProspects.com
- Perhaps the streakiest player in the organization, Moss carried the Dogs through the playoffs on one of his torrid hot streaks. However his season still lacked the consistency you seek out of a prospect. At 23, Moss will still be young enough to belong in triple-A. Another left-handed hitting Sox right fielder also didn’t blossom until his 23 and 24-year old seasons in Pawtucket. Moss has good speed and range in right, with a very good arm. If he can ever find a way to carry the same approach throughout a season he might develop into an everyday major leaguer. Unfortunately, the same can be said for hundreds of minor leaguers. He will most likely start the year in Pawtucket as the right-fielder. ~ Baseball Think Factory

Major League Career
- 2007: Moss made his major league debut from August 6-8 and closed the regular season in Boston following his September 1st call-up. While with the Red Sox Brandon went 7-for-25, with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts in 15 games. Moss' final line for the season was .280/.379/.440.
- 2008: Moss got a surprise start on Opening Day, 2008, played at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, because J.D. Drew had lower back tightness right before game time. He was the star of the show, driving in Boston's first two runs in the 6th against Joe Blanton of the Athletics. In the 9th, he came up with a 4-3 deficit and one out and homered off Huston Street to tie the score. Moss was the fifth Major Leaguer to hit his first home run outside of the USA or Canada. He was the first Red Sox player since Ben Steiner in 1945 to hit his first career homer on Opening Day. Prior to being traded to Pittsburgh in the Manny Ramirez trade, Moss put up a line of .295/.337/.462, while with the Sox.
