Robert Frank "The Globetrotter" Roth was born on August 28, 1892, in Burlington, Wisconsin. Roth was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 1, 1914, with the Chicago White Sox.

Roth had an 8-year career as an outfielder. In 811 games he batted .284 with 804 hits, 30 HR and 422 RBI.
