Overall Career

Brad Lee Pennigton (born April 14, 1969 in Salem, IN), was a hard throwing lefty who made manager's mouth water whenever he threw on the side, but made their mouth's dry whenever he pitched in a game. Like so many hard throwers before and after him, he never could find the strike zone, usually walkng more batters than innings pitched during each season. He finished with 89 walks in just 75 innings. In his first year, Baltimore thought he would be their closer of the future, and he did save four games. That was his best year, as he only walked 25 batters in 33 innings. He was never as good again, although he did have a 2.77 in 1996 with the Red Sox. Still he walked 15 batters in 13 innings that year. He did stick around longer than he should have, being a hard throwing lefty, as GM's could resist trying to get him under control. He ended his career in Tampa Bay, walking three batters in his only outing in which he did not get a batter out, giving him an infinity ERA for that year.
