Overall Career
Robert George "Lefty" Weiland was born on December 14, 1905, in Chicago, Illinois. Weiland was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 30, 1928, with the Chicago White Sox. Weiland had a 12 year career as a left handed pitcher. He finished with a 62-94 record, 614 Ks and a 4.24 ERA.
Weiland shut out the A's in his major league debut with his hometown White Sox on September 30, 1928, and in 1937 he led the national league in games started with 34.
