Overall Career

Once a highly touted power-hitting prospect, Ashley's success in the minors failed to translate to the majors. After winning MVP honors at Triple-A Albuquerque in 1994, Ashley appeared in a career-high 81 games for the Dodgers in 1995 but failed to live up to the hype.

Released by the Dodgers on March 29, 1998, the Red Sox signed Ashley as a free agent the next day. In 13 games for Boston, he amassed seven hits, three home runs, and two walks in 24 total at-bats, the last taste of the big leagues he would ever get. He signed with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays prior to the 1999 season, but failed to make the Major League roster.
