William Joseph Sweeney (born December 29, 1904 in Cleveland, Ohio) was a first baseman for three years in the Major Leagues.

Overall Career
After his major league career was complete, he continued to play and manage for many years at the AAA level, notably in the Pacific Coast League. In 15 years in the minor leagues, Sweeney hit .321 with 85 HR and 763 RBI in 1691 games.
He was also a coach for the Detroit Tigers in 1947-1948.
