Overall Career

Pulsipher's career began when he was picked in the second round of the 1991 draft by the New York Mets and quickly became known as one of three highly-touted Mets pitching prospects (along with Jason Isringhausen and Paul Wilson). He made his major league debut on June 17, 1995 and recorded his first win on June 27th of that year, but in 1996 he had surgery to repair torn ligaments in his pitching arm, and he did not return to the majors until 1998. The Mets traded him to the Brewers at the 1998 trading deadline, reacquired him in January 2000, and traded him again (this time to the Diamondbacks) in June 2000. Before the 2001 season, Pulsipher signed as a free agent with the Devil Rays, but was released during spring training and signed with the Red Sox. He subsequently pitched for the White Sox, Rangers, Yankees, Orioles, Mariners, and Cardinals, and is currently starring for the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League. Over 11 years, Pulsipher pitched a total of 293 innings in 104 games (46 starts), compiling a 13-19 record and a 5.04 ERA.

Pulsipher's Moments in the Sun

Pulsipher was a highly touted pitcher during his minor league career (1991-1994). His rookie season of 1995 provided reason for optimism, as he started 17 games and compiled a 3.98 ERA (including 2 complete games), a WHIP of 1.318, and an ERA+ of 105. During the following April, he needed elbow surgery, and his season ERA+ would never again top 84.
