Overall Career
William Richard Campbell (born August 9, 1948 in Highland Park, MI), was a relief pitcher/closer for the Boston Red Sox from 1977 to 1981. Campbell a 2-time American League Rolaids Relief Award Winner, also parts of the rest of his 15 year career with the Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Tigers, and Montreal Expos.
Campbell was one of the top relief pitchers in all of baseball with the Minnesota Twins in 1976 and the Boston Red Sox in 1977, but began experiencing arm trouble in 1978, and never again regained his once dominant status in the game.
