Red Sox and Auburn
As the Red Sox expanded their minor league affiliate base to 13 teams in 1948, the Red Sox added a Class C team in Auburn, New York. The team would not fare well, landing 30 games out in last place in the 6 team Pioneer League. The Red Sox would contract back to 9 teams in the 1949 season, leaving Auburn behind.
