Scouting Report
- Dobies is a fierce competitor with a nice delivery. Fastball hits the mid-to-high 80s, which is varied by an excellent changeup and a decent slider. Added a low 80s cut fastball in 2006 which he considers his best pitch. He also throws a nice cutter as an out pitch. Doesn’t walk too many batters.
During the 2006 season, Dobies added a cut fastball, at the urging of the Red Sox. "They sent me some tapes on (White Sox starter) Mark Buehrle," Dobies said. "It took me a while to get used to it and figure out the grip. I finally got it, and it's been working wonders ever since."
- "My cutter is around 81-83 (mph), while my fastball ranges from 85-88. I'm probably throwing my fastball, cutter, and slider an equal amount. I'm also throwing a change-up, which has been excellent for me this year." ~ Andrew on Andrew
